What is Timeline Therapy?

My first experience with Timeline Therapy was several years ago with a friend who had just completed her training as a Master Practitioner in Timeline Therapy. At the time, I was in a funk, procrastination and inconsistency were common in my business, my relationships were suffering, and I knew I wasn't living up to who God created me to be.


In my business, I struggled getting to that next level of success. I procrastinated and was inconsistent. In my relationships, I didn't really felt connected to anyone. I had tons of friends and was well liked but had a tendency to keep everyone at arms length and not really go deep with anyone, including my husband and closest family.


My Experience.


For my first timeline therapy session, I decided to make relationships the focus, because I always believed that relationships are everything and my other shortfalls would fall into place after. It's amazing the difference one day in timeline therapy can make. I was able to let go of and change my perspective of past events that I didn't even realize were hindering me. By the end of the day, I felt more joy, more connected, and a true desire to connect with others.


My relationships with my family improved quickly and I had a genuine desire for deeper relationships which was new for me. What surprised me most was even though our focus for the day was on relationships, over the next several days I noticed behavior changes in my business as well. I stopped procrastinating, and had more confidence in what I was doing, and felt more determined than ever. Some changes happened immediately, some over time. It was my first experience and most certainly won't be my last.


After my experience, I decided to go through the training to become a Master Practitioner in Timeline Therapy as well. This has become one of my favorite things to do as a coach. So much so that I decided to develop a unique process combining this technique with other NLP and Evolved NLP strategies. It is incredibly rewarding to watch someone let go of the emotional baggage that was holding them back so that they can take action on their business goals and have better relationships.


What is timeline therapy?


Timeline Therapy is a technique in which you are able to let go of negative emotions quickly and effortlessly and create lasting change. Using a combination of NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) techniques, you are able to change your perception of past events so that you can "let go" of the negative emotions that may be attached to it. This process empowers the individual to make decisions based on the present circumstances rather than the past. In short, it is a fast way to release yourself from emotional baggage so that you can move forward in life.


We all make decisions based on our past experiences. If you can imagine a young child who perhaps hears her parents arguing. Now, going forward, the child avoids conflicts, and becomes somewhat of a "people pleaser", unconsciously reacting to different situations in order to avoid conflict. As I'm sure you can imagine, this can impact this same child later in life in her relationships, career, and her self confidence. She has developed an unwarranted fear based on that one experience. This can show up in many different ways. Our past experiences can affect our life decisions and we end up feeling "stuck" in a pattern of behavior that we can't seem to break out of on our own.

Timeline Therapy is a fast and effective way to release yourself from this baggage. It can be done in one session or in a series of sessions, depending on the desired outcome.


Timeline therapy helps us release negative emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, guilt, and shame from the memories that are in our "timeline". We are also able to release limiting decisions and leave them in the past where they belong. After releasing negative emotions, we are able to create our future the way we want it.
