Overcoming Feelings of Inadequacy When Reaching Higher Levels of Success

Have you ever struggled with feelings of inadequacy after you've reached a higher level of success?

Perhaps you felt this after you started leading a team.

Whether you are an entrepreneur up-leveling your business, an up-and-coming executive taking on greater responsibilities at work, or are building and leading a team, it can be difficult to deal with feelings of inadequacy that may arise along the way.

At these times, it is important to remember that these feelings are perfectly normal and to work on building your self-confidence and resilience by accepting compliments and striving to be your best self every day. By reminding yourself of your past successes, setting new goals for yourself, and surrounding yourself with supportive friends and colleagues, you can overcome feelings of insecurity and boost your self-confidence as you achieve new heights of success.

So if you are ready to take on the challenges that come with reaching new levels of success in your career or personal life, let these tips help guide you on your journey towards greater achievement!

Why our subconscious mind resists change

Just as we humans resist change in our day-to-day lives, so too does our subconscious mind. When we up-level our business or begin leading a team, it is just as important to up-level our subconscious mind. Our subconscious is designed to keep us safe and comfortable, and so it will often try to hold us back from making changes that could lead to discomfort or danger. This can manifest itself in feelings of insecurity or self-doubt even after we've reached higher levels of success, and can sometimes lead to falling back into old habits and behaviors.

When our conscious mind and subconscious mind are not in alignment, this leads to inconsistent results and can result in frustration and feelings of inadequacy. The subconscious is holding on to the old you, while the conscious mind is trying to create the new you. The key to success is bringing these two parts of yourself into alignment so that you can move forward with confidence and certainty.

One way to do this is to identify the beliefs that are holding you back, and then reframe them in a more positive light. For example, if you believe that you're not good enough to be a success, reframe that belief to something like, "I am worthy and deserving of success." You can also use affirmations and visualization to help reprogram your subconscious mind for success.

By focusing on positive affirmations and visualizing success, we can change our inner dialogue and begin to feel more confident in our abilities and capable of taking on and keeping our new successes.

Getting clear on our why

To overcome these feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, it's important to get clear on our "why." Why are we pursuing success? What is it that we truly want to achieve? When we have a strong and compelling reason for why we're doing something, it becomes much easier to push through the feelings of self-doubt.

For example, if our goal is simply to be wealthy or successful for the sake of success, our subconscious mind may try to hold us back from taking the risks or making changes that are necessary to reach that goal. However, if we have a deeper purpose for why we want success – such as wanting to provide for our family or make a meaningful impact in the world – these feelings of doubt and insecurity begin to dissipate.

Surround yourself with supportive people, set new goals, and focus on your accomplishments.

One of the best ways to overcome feelings of inadequacy is to surround yourself with supportive people. When we have people in our lives who believe in us and are rooting for our success, it's much easier to silence the self-doubt that tells us we're not good enough. Additionally, setting new goals and focusing on our accomplishments can also help us to shift our mindset and overcome feelings of inadequacy. By setting concrete and achievable goals, we can focus on the progress we're making and celebrate each success, thereby reinforcing a sense of confidence in ourselves and our abilities. At the end of the day, success is often just a matter of mindset – so give yourself the support you need and keep reaching for higher levels of success!
