Our subconscious mind is responsible for 90% of our behavior. Whenever we are doing something either in our business or in our relationships that we don’t seem to be able to control, that means that there is a subconscious program that is running.
When you’ve had a problem for so long and you’ve never been able to overcome it, it’s sometimes hard to identify where the problem began.
These are some of the problems that I see business owners and entrepreneurs struggle with the most. What some people do not realize is that your business and your relationships past and present are connected.
During the first 7 years of our life, we soak up everything we see, hear, and feel and our young brains believe it to be true. During these years we develop our most powerful, and oftentimes most life-limiting, beliefs that can stick with us for the rest of our lives because they are stored at the subconscious level in our gestalt.
Our gestalt is the part of our brain that stores our core emotions of anger, sadness, fear, hurt, shame and guilt. One of the prime directives of the subconscious mind is to make associations from past experiences and to run and preserve the body. Basically, it's there to keep us safe, and sometimes, keep us stuck.
Our past experiences can cause unwarranted anger, sadness, fear, hurt, and guilt and we react or become paralyzed in life, many times without knowing why we do the things we do. Getting to the core reason of the belief behind what is stopping us is key in moving forward with our goals.
Typical problems or beliefs that stop us can take the form of:
Being stuck in your business
Struggling with relationships at home or work
Fear of scaling or reaching higher levels
Confidence in leadership
Sometimes we do behaviors that we wish we didn’t or we don’t do the behaviors that would help us to reach our goals. So how can we identify these self limiting beliefs or behaviors?
Here are 10 questions we can ask ourselves that will help us dig deep into our subconscious mind and identify the problem behind the behavior.
What belief or problem has held you back the most?
Why do you believe this?
What evidence proves your belief or problem wrong?
What lessons have you learned from your limiting belief or problem?
Is there any truth in your belief?
Question its impact.
What would happen if you DID do the thing that you’ve been holding back on?
How are you contributing?
What would you have to give up if you overcame this belief?
What would it be worth if you overcame this problem or belief?
Being stuck in our business or struggling in relationships can affect so many things. It’s all connected. When we are frustrated with our personal life it affects our business.
